How SRS Works
Contribute: Up to S$15,300/yr (SC/PR) or S$35,700 (foreigner). Contributions reduce chargeable income — immediate tax saving each year.
Invest: SRS funds can be invested in SGX stocks, ETFs, unit trusts, fixed deposits, and insurance. Don't leave it as cash at 0.05%.
Withdraw at 62+: Only 50% of each withdrawal is taxable. Spread over 10 years to minimise annual taxable income.
Early withdrawal (before 62): 100% taxable + 5% penalty. Avoid unless in financial emergency.
